Anchovies Fish Puttu

I don’t eat fish but cook fish. Once my aunty had made sura puttu and my husband loved it. I have seen Rachel Ray cooking show using Anchovies and pasta and tried it .It came out so good because my girl ate it. Since then I’m using canned fish. I started cooking canned fish similar to Indian style of scrambled egg and similar to sura puttu.

Ingredients for Anchovies Fish Puttu:

Canned Anchovies (Ihave used 4 cans ,each 2 oz)

Onions Chopped 2

Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp

Green Chillies 2-3

Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp

Chilli Powder 1 tbsp

Coriander powder 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds

Oil

Salt( Check before adding any salt. Most canned fish has lots of salt.)

Preparing Anchovies Fish Puttu:

First take a pan and add oil when pan is hot. Add curry leaves and mustard seeds.

When mustard seeds crackle add chopped onions and green chillies. Saute till onions are transparent.

Now add ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds.

Add turmeric powder,chilli powder and coriander powder and saute till these dry powders and well blended and their raw smell is gone.

Finally add canned fish. Drain excess oil from cans. If you just dump the canned fish into the pan there will be lots of oil in the pan.

Just mix and check for salt and then add salt if required. Because lots of canned fish has salt added.

Enjoy Anchovies fish puttu with hot rice. It smells wonderful and tastes so good.
