Daba Style Chicken Curry

I love trying different chicken recipes. Currently I like Chef Harpalsingh’s recipes. They are very simple to make and taste delicious.

I have tried his Highway Chicken Recipe and it is so good and very easy to make. I have made few changes.

Ingredients for Daba Style Chicken Curry

Whole Chicken
Onions 3 medium
Tomatoes 2 medium
Green Chillies 6
Ginger garlic paste 3 tbsp
Chili powder 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Salt
Green Cardamom 6
Black Cardamom 4
Cloves 5
Cinnamon sticks 3 big(5 -6 small)
Cumin 1 tsp
Garam Masala 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves
Ghee 3 tbsp
Oil 2 tbsp
Curd 1/4 cup(optional)

Making of Daba Style Chicken Curry

Clean chicken and keep it aside.

Chop onions and green chillies length wise.

Chop tomatoes. Chop ginger into julians.

Prepare ginger garlic paste. Take ginger more than garlic and make paste.

Take a non stick pan and oil. When oil is hot add whole garam masala and saute till you can smell the masala.

Now add thinly chopped onions and green chillies. ( Chef added green chillies later ..I forgot 😉

Saute till onions are transparent and add ginger garlic paste and chopped ginger and saute.

Now add chopped tomatoes and cook till tomatoes are mushy and oil starts coming out from edge of the pan.

Time to add dry masala ingredients except garam masala. Saute till they are well blended into tomato mixture.

Now add cleaned chicken pieces and saute.

Now close the pan and stir frequently once chicken starts oozing liquid add some more water. Add water little by little checking gravy consistency.

Cover the pan and cook for about 20 to 25 min.

Once the chicken is completely cooked add chopped cilantro(coriander leaves) and garam masala and add ghee. Mix well and cook for few minutes.

I added yogurt(curd) to the chicken curry for a different taste. This is optional.
