Healthy Whole Wheat and Almond Meal Waffles

I came late into wagon wheel for making pancakes and waffles. But after making them once I instinctively got hooked and addicted to waffles and pancakes.

I started making them with all purpose flour and soon changed to whole wheat and completely removed all purpose flour Β in my baking or cooking. I use them only if I ran out of whole wheat flour.
I had tried many healthy versions of waffles before blogging. Today I have tried Chocolate Covered Katie’s healthy waffles recipe.
Main reason for creating this blog is store my recipe collections and record my experiments with original ones. Earlier I used to search for a recipe and will choose a recipe and try it and after that I will forget from where the original recipe came from. And again when I want to make’m I have to start searching again but will end up with a different one and will regret for forgetting earlier recipe πŸ˜‰
Not any more. Now I can store original as well as my tweaked recipes πŸ™‚

Ingredients for Healthy Whole Wheat Almond Meal Waffles:
1) Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
2) Almond Meal 1/2 Cup
3) Homemade Applesauce 1 cup
4) Baking Powder 1 tsp
5) Baking Soda 1/2 tsp
6) Salt 1/2 tsp
7) Canola Oil 2 Tbsp ( use whatever oil you like)
8) Milk 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp
9) Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
10) Maple Syrup 2 Tbsp ( optional I felt waffles are sweet because of apple sauce)
Recipe made 8 waffles.
Making of healthy Whole Wheat Almond Meal Waffle:
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Stir until all ingredients are combined . Don’t over mix.

Grease your waffle maker properly these are sticking to them if you don’t grease them. Pour the waffle batter and close the lid and cook them till done.These waffles are so soft be careful while removing them from waffle maker.

Serve warm with maple syrup and any fruit you like.

They are sweet because of applesauce. You can eat them as is even without maple syrup.
If you don’t like too much sweetness cut down adding maple syrup and reduce the amount of apple sauce to 3/4 cup and increase milk to 1/2 cup.
