How to make Pesera pappu Idli or Whole Moong Dal Idli

I have been experimenting with idli varieties. I have tried Ragi Idli, Jonna Idli and Curd Idli. Last week I have tried with Pesera Pappu( Whole Moong Dal) . It came out nicely and it is not completely in green color as pesarattu. My next to do list is whole ural dal idli 🙂

My girl who is very picky  in eating didn’t bother eating this pesera pappu idli.A big plus for me 🙂

Ingredients for Pesera pappu Idli or Whole Moong Dal Idli:

Rice 2 Cups

Pesera pappu (Whole Moond Dal ) 1 cup

Urad Dal 1/4 Cup

Fenugreek Seeds 1 tbsp

Salt as required

Making of Pesera pappu Idli or Whole Moong Dal Idli:

Soak rice ,pesara pappu and urad dal and fenugreek seeds overnight and grind it to fine paste as you would make regular idli. When idli batter ferments add little soda in water and mix it well and mix soda to the batter.

Pour idli batter into idli moulds and steam idli’s till they are done.

Serve pesara pappu Idli with your favorite chutney  like peanut chutney or tomato chutney

Note: You can adjust your rice to dal ratio according to your taste. I think this will work for 4 cup rice and 1 cup moong dal as well as long as you use urad dal.
