Quinoa Halwa

Lately I have been very busy with my Li’l one. He is growing up fast and keeping me on my toes all the time. I’m not having any time to take pictures or post regularly here. My younger one had completed one year and elder one 6 years this Sunday 🙂 Days just fly and we don’t even notice.

This quinoa halwa I have made it months ago but didn’t get time to post. This quinoa halwa is one way to consume quinoa in Indian way.

Ingredients for Quinoa Halwa :

Quinoa 1 cup

Nuts of your choice 1/2 cup (adjust)

Raisins 1/8 cup or 2 tbsp

Milk 2 cups

Jaggery 1 cup (adjust)

Making of Quinoa Halwa :

First take a wide pan and add ghee when pan is hot. First roast mixed nuts on slow flame and take it into bowl.

Then roast raisins and when they puff up remove them into a bowl.

Now add quinoa into the pan and dry roast them, and add milk and cover it. Allow quinoa to cook on medium flame for about 20 to 30 min.

When you cook quinoa in milk it takes longer time to cook. You can either use 50% water and 50 %milk to cook quinoa.

When quinoa is cooked add jaggery. It becomes watery and keep stirring on slow to medium flame till it halwa consistency is reached.

Mix nuts and raisins into quinoa halwa and serve.
