Red Radish Sambar or Red Mullangi Sambar

red-radish-sambar-recipe

I used to hate mullangi ( white radish) when I was in School. My grandfather and father used to eat raw mullangi because it is very good for health. They used to give me lecturer’s about benefits of radish. I developed my love for mullangi in later years and love radish now. My mother prepares sambar, curry and chutney using white radish.

Radishes are rich in ascorbic acid, folic acid, and potassium. They are a good source of vitamin B6, riboflavin, magnesium, copper, and calcium. One cup of sliced red radish bulbs provides approximately 19 Calories, largely from carbohydrates. (From Wiki).

Enjoy benefits of protein from dal and rest of the ingredients.Sambar is packed with lots of vitamins and protein.

In US when I started my cooking journey I saw red radish in produce market and got so excited about color and just made sambar with it. My friends were surprised to know that I made sambar using red radish 😉 I don’t about others my family including my kid loves red radish in sambar.
