Simple Tomato Pachadi

This is very simple and tastes very different . I tasted this in my hostel days and again after many I have tasted this in my friend’s house. She is from Hyderabad. I believe this is from Telangana. My Mom makes tomato pachadi in many ways but not like this one.

Ingredients for Simple Tomato Pachadi

Tomatoes 5 medium size
Green Chillies 5-6
Ginger 1 inch piece
Urad dal 2 tbsp
Chana dal 2 tbsp
Oil Salt
Tamarind ( according to your taste)

Making of Tomato Pachadi

First take a pan and add tbsp of oil.When oil is hot add urad dal and chana dal and saute till they are golden brown. Remove them and let them cool.

In the same pan add ginger,garlic and saute.

Add green chillies and saute till they are done.

Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they are mushy and liquid is half evaporated.

Add tamarind extract and saute for few seconds. Allow the tomato mixture to cool down.

Grind dal’s first. When they are grinded into fine powder add tomato mixture and grind.

Serve this tomato chutney with hot rice,idli, dosa ,upma.
